The Old Lawrencians Association (“OLA”, “we”, “us”) is the alumni association of The Lawrence School, Lovedale. This policy explains what personal information we collect through www.olalovedale.com and our messaging channels, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Membership details: your name, batch (year of leaving), house, and similar details that identify you as an Old Lawrencian.
- Contact details: your email address and mobile number, including the number you use on WhatsApp.
- Account and security information: one-time login codes, sign-in times and basic technical information (such as browser type and IP address) needed to keep your account secure.
- Information you choose to share: profile details or messages you send to the OLA office.
How we use it
- To maintain the OLA member registry and confirm that you are an Old Lawrencian.
- To let you sign in, including sending one-time login codes by email or WhatsApp.
- To send you service messages about your membership, registrations and payments.
- To send you news, event and reunion announcements, only if you have agreed to receive them. You can opt out at any time.
- To respond to your enquiries and keep the platform secure.
WhatsApp messages
We use the WhatsApp Business Platform, provided by Meta, to send login codes and, with your consent, announcements. Your mobile number and the content of these messages are processed by Meta to deliver them, under WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy. To stop receiving announcements on WhatsApp, reply “STOP” or email us at contactus@olalovedale.com. You will still be able to receive login codes you request.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the platform, and only as needed for that purpose: website hosting, our database provider, our email delivery provider, and Meta (WhatsApp) for messaging. Your details are visible to authorised OLA office bearers and staff who manage the registry. We may disclose information if required by law.
How we protect it
Email addresses and phone numbers are stored encrypted. Access to member data is limited to authorised OLA staff, and changes to member records are logged.
How long we keep it
We keep membership records for as long as you are part of the OLA community, as an alumni association normally does. Login codes expire within minutes. You may ask us to delete your information at any time.
Your choices and rights
You may ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or withdraw your consent to announcements, by writing to contactus@olalovedale.com. We handle personal information in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update it on this page and revise the date above.
